Holly founded Collaborate, a platform that empowers and upskills people to create social change through volunteering.
She noticed the organisations she volunteered for struggled to get the help they needed. At the same time, her professional peers said they wanted to give back but it was too hard to find opportunities that used their skills and fit around their jobs.
So Holly founded Collaborate, a ‘Tinder-style’ app that connects volunteers with opportunities that match their skills, interests and time available. She led the co-design process, involving more than 400 volunteers and community organisations. Today the platform connects 183 organisations and hundreds of volunteers.
Holly now manages Collaborate, with a team of 16 volunteers. She is working with businesses to develop corporate volunteering that benefits the community, the volunteer and business. She is partnering with Te Papa for an upcoming exhibition, TAIAO Nature, focused on environmental volunteerism.
