Kiwiharvest and Everybody Eats

KiwiHarvest and Everybody Eats work together to nourish people in need in our communities with healthy food. Each day, KiwiHarvest sources food that is destined for landfill but is still good to eat. The food is collected from growers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retail outlets, in refrigerated trucks, and delivered or collected by organisations providing food support to people experiencing food insecurity. KiwiHarvest’s service is free.

One of the organisations KiwiHarvest supports is Everybody Eats – a pay as you feel dining concept that turns rescued food into a three-course restaurant quality meal. People can pay whatever they like for the meal (even nothing). Each Monday, different chefs give their time to prepare the food from the Auckland restaurant. Most of the diners are homeless or in need, and many come every week for a hot meal. Volunteers play an important role in both organisations, helping collect the food in the KiwiHarvest trucks and serving meals in the restaurant. Both organisations share not only food, but networks, and repurpose resources to scale their collaborative efforts.
