What we do
We collect quality surplus food from businesses and provide it to community groups supporting those in need in the greater Wellington region.
With the help of a team of more than 170 volunteers, we rescue more than 75,000kg of quality surplus food each month. This is the equivalent of 214,286 meals worth of food provided to people in need, while reducing carbon emissions by 22,425 kg every month.
How we can help you to go circular
We work with food sector businesses to reduce waste and help follow the Food Waste Hierarchy to make sure surplus food is put to good use.
We sort that food for quality. Food that is not supplied to our partner charities goes to our secondary waste streams to feed animals and then to compost.
We help food donors understand how to reduce their impact on environment and reduce emissions from food waste.
We measure and report on the environmental benefits and social impact of our food rescue operations.
Food donors help the environment and their community by ensuring quality surplus food is rescued in a timely and safe way by us and passed on to people who need food the most.
We also offer food rescue site visits and education on reducing food waste to businesses and the community.
