Nelson Environment Centre - Kai Rescue
The Kai Rescue programme was established in 2017 with the aim of minimising food waste in our community. Our team collects food from supermarkets, growers, manufacturers and other food outlets that is good enough to eat but is surplus or non-saleable.

We link businesses with local farms to divert food scraps from landfill and turn them into compost. We educate businesses on how to pre-treat their food scraps before they are collected and transported to a local farm.

Kaibosh Food Rescue
Kaibosh offers a food rescue and re-distribution service at no cost to food donors, charities and community groups. They safely rescue and sort donated food at three sites in Wellington, Hutt Valley and Kāpiti-Horowhenua, to supply local partner charities.

Fair Food
Fair Food is a climate-friendly community solution to food insecurity. We collect surplus fresh kai from supermarkets, farmers and manufacturers. Food items are sorted by our volunteers and then shared with more than 50 Auckland charities to feed people.

We help communities throughout Wellington by rescuing surplus food and household goods. We redistribute them to frontline agencies working directly with people in need. We are an independent group of like-minded people working together to reduce inequality in our community.

Just Zilch
We rescue food from going to waste, serve our community and help our planet. Our Palmerston North Free Store allows individuals and families to receive food directly. We also distribute food to some 140 community groups from Otaki to Rotorua to Hastings and across to New Plymouth.
