What we do
As part of our 2022 Textile Waste Campaign, we are seeking a partnership with a fashion brand that has local production. As part of this partnership, we would like to initiate a model to upcycle its production waste, starting with a limited edition range of clothing and accessories made from one season’s offcuts.
How we can help you to go circular
By using every inch of its textiles, the fashion brand can ensure that it is measurably eliminating its contribution to waste made in the production process (on average, approximately 35% of textiles become waste during garment production). While doing this, the brand can ensure that it is contributing positively to the local industry and community. We train clients of the national not-for-profit community organisation Shakti in employability skills, including sewing. We also have a partnership with the Department of Corrections to train women on probation. These women will be part of our upcycling team, and they will have the opportunity to develop personal and professional skills as part of this partnership. Some of the profits made from upcycled textiles, that would otherwise have been sent to landfill, will be used to support Sustinnoworx and Shakti in their missions against violence and to promote social inclusion, thus contributing to social regeneration.
