Integrated Design Process Action Group

An Integrated Design Process (IDP) is an interdisciplinary design approach with an emphasis on collaboration.

For construction, this means that projects are designed through a collaborative process that involves stakeholders from across the value chain from the very beginning. IDP considers the architecture, engineering and building inputs of construction as a whole system. IDP involves multiple cross-discipline stakeholders and seeks to gather more input and discussion at the planning and design phases, with decisions made jointly by participants. The IDP system is iterative, and considers the connections between the various disciplines.
