Assessing the impacts of New Zealand avocados
The New Zealand avocado industry is a growing part of the horticultural sector. To understand the environmental performance of New Zealand-grown avocados, the industry commissioned a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). This study looked at the avocado supply chain – from growth in a mature orchard to distribution to customers.
New Zealand Avocado are using this benchmark to continue to improve the industry’s environmental and business performance. It also helps communicate to customers the environmental performance of avocados.
Brad Siebert is the Deputy CEO of NZ Avocado and will explain why they commissioned the study. He’ll join Gaya Gamage, our Head of Quality Assurance, to discuss how a verified LCA study can help you tell your story.
Shreyasi Majumdar and Professor Sarah McLaren from the New Zealand Life Cycle Management (NZLCM) Centre conducted the LCA for New Zealand Avocado. Gaya verified the study.
