Rod Tolley is a former Reader in Geography at Staffordshire University in the UK, where he taught and researched for over 30 years. Since 2004 he has been an Honorary Research Fellow at the same institution, as well as Conference Director of Walk21, a global partnership of walking experts that champions the development of healthy, sustainable and efficient communities where people choose to walk. In 2009 he was nominated one of the top 50 of the World’s sustainable transport ‘heroes’, “the extraordinary creative people who over the last decades have led the way in the uphill fight to sustainable transportation, sustainable cities and sustainable lives.” He is the author of Slow Cities: Conquering our Speed Addiction for Health and Sustainability which explores how some cities are transforming into pedestrian oriented places for the 21st century.
Kylie Nixon is Arup's Australasia Active Transport Lead, and an Associate Principal, with over twenty years consulting experience in transportation and traffic engineering with Arup in Australia, the UK and Republic of Ireland. Kylie has proven pivotal in planning, designing, and delivering safe and accessible networks for people walking and riding.
Adrian Lord is the Head of Cycling and Active Travel at Auckland Transport. He has over 25 years of experience and has prepared planning and design guidance, strategies, plans and scheme designs in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Middle East and USA.
