Empowering business so nature can prosper is a very real and timely conversation with all that’s going on for our planet right now.
It’s a time where people need to be inspired and encouraged to keep going, but be even more aware than before. Not only to take care of ourselves and those around us, but also to take care of our planet. We can start at home of course, but what happens in our work spaces? What tools do we need to get started?
Our ‘realities’ may be smaller and feel more limited in terms of interaction as well as ‘movement’ these days so we hope this seminar can empower all of us to take care of our little corners of the world and encourage us to step into the future with a positive footprint.
Meet our exceptional guest speakers:
TORI CALVER - HEAD OF CULTURE AND IMPACT AT SBN
Having worked for a number of years in travel and tourism, Tori switched to a sustainability focused role due to growing concern around the lack of action in this space (both globally and in Aotearoa). Mother of two, she's acutely aware of the challenges our tamariki and mokopuna will face in the coming years and the need for this generation to step up to the challenge. At SBN she's focused on helping the team achieve and measure collective impact in acting on climate, designing out waste and regenerating nature. A key part of her role is helping to up-skill businesses in what they need to do, providing practical advice on how to implement the necessary change.
OLLY NG - SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT AT OXYGEN CONSULTING
Olly has a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from the University of Canterbury, where he was also the Students’ Association Sustainability Officer, implementing new practices to reduce waste and increase diversion at events and in the campus cafes. At Oxygen Consulting, Olly is focused on helping organisations optimise all aspects of their business for sustainable, enduring value creation; offering expertise including carbon management, materiality assessment, certification programmes, strategy development and sustainability reporting.
MADISON BAKER - CEO, NUZ
Madison is the Co-Founder and CEO at Nuz, a New Zealand based knife company soon to be released to the New Zealand market. Prior to starting Nuz, Madison worked for Air New Zealand as a Network Strategy Analyst. This role led her to find her passion in sustainability, through a number of future focused projects working closely with the Sustainability team as well as her involvement with the Now Crowd. Her switch to starting a business was inspired by her desire to make a mark in the sustainability field in her own way while following her dad’s footsteps in the knife making industry. At Nuz, minimising impact on the planet is a major focus, reflected in production and material choice.
