Join us for the release of the new and improved Climate Action Toolbox on 29 June.
New updates focus on tailored advice to different sectors, starting with construction. The building and construction sector is responsible for about 10% of New Zealand's emissions every year. Emissions are created throughout the construction lifecycle.
The government says the building and construction sector must play its part if our country is to achieve its climate change goals, including net zero carbon by 2050.
We’ve collaborated with industry experts to make sure the Toolbox gives construction businesses tailored information on climate action and how to start. It will include actions for businesses working at every stage of the construction supply chain.
We’ve also streamlined the Toolbox. Now it’s easier for any business to take climate action. You’ll find everything you need in one handy place. Measure your carbon footprint and get an action plan to cut emissions relevant to your business. View the next steps at a glance, set effective targets and track your progress online.
Along with our partners, we launched the Toolbox in March 2021. In 2022 we added a free online calculator so you could get a much clearer picture of your total emissions and where they were coming from. It also made it easier to set a realistic reduction target and track your progress.
The Toolbox is designed to help small to medium-sized businesses in Aotearoa New Zealand. Together, they account for 97% of all businesses in this country and make a significant contribution to our economy.
Aotearoa New Zealand continues to be hit by extreme weather events. More businesses are looking for ways to take climate action and reduce their emissions. By using the Climate Action Toolbox they’re also finding ways to save money, improve their brand, retain staff and gain a competitive edge.
