As ever the pressure was on as we moved towards the winter months. Thirteen projects were counting on our support to get 130,000 native plants and trees in the ground. We had just two months to raise the cash.
With the help of our old friends Kiwi comedy duo Josh and Mearle we cooked up a slightly chaotic video. It featured all the fun and hidden talents of our project partners. The Body Shop too stepped in to boost our efforts. The company donated an extra $8,000 dollars to the project with the most donations by July 31.
We’re delighted to say that the projects got behind us. Donations large and small rolled in from all over the country. The winner of the Body Shop Boost was Love Our Alpine Lakes in Otago. The group is currently raising $60,000 through Million Metres. That will help restore 600 metres of waterway with 6,000 plants and trees.
But in truth everyone’s a winner. Appeal funds will go to all the projects, to assist them to meet their goals.
Million Metres is a project of the Sustainable Business Network. It receives 5% of every annual Investor fee. So if you’re an Investor, you too are playing your part to restore and revive the nations waterways. Thank you!
Many of our Investor organisations also donate to waterway projects near them. Check out our live projects now to see if there’s more you would like to do to help.
