A provocative sculpture highlighting plastic pollution made global headlines for the Better Packaging Co.
The giant recycled plastic poo sculpture was installed on Bondi Beach in Australia to help mark this year’s World Environment Day on 5 June. It was designed as a visual reminder of the staggering volume of plastic waste that finds its way into the world’s oceans every 30 seconds. The company says there is enough plastic in the world – the problem is that it doesn’t get collected or recycled, and eventually ends up in our oceans because it has no perceived value.
Photos and stories of the plastic poo sculpture appeared in more than 170 publications around the world reaching millions of people.
The Better Packaging Co. says the aim was to be shocking and fun while offering a message of hope that solutions are available.
One of those solutions is the company’s POLLAST!C range. This innovative line includes poly mailers, garment bags, reusable carry bags and pallet wrap made from 80 to 100% recycled plastic pollution retrieved from Southeast Asia.
The range has already rescued more than one million kilograms of plastic waste, effectively recycling it into functional packaging solutions. More than 3,000 Australian retail, fashion and e-commerce brands have already embraced Better Packaging Co.’s solutions.
