In 2015, Foodstuffs New Zealand set out to enable its customers to charge an electric vehicle while shopping, as part of a commitment to tread lightly on Papatūānuku.
Foodstuffs bid successfully for funding from the government, in partnership with ChargeNet, to secure support for Electric Vehicle Fast Charging stations at stores throughout New Zealand.
By 2018 Foodstuffs’ stores had more Fast Chargers than Australia. By the end of 2019 there will be more than 70 fast charging stations in place, from Bluff to Kaitaia, giving customers assurance they can travel safely and reliably around New Zealand.
Foodstuffs has also made a significant investment in an electric vehicle fleet of 28 delivery vehicles, as well as three heavy logistics trucks.
This initiative is helping to decrease the consumption of fossil fuels, support the roll-out of electric vehicles and enable people to travel confidently around New Zealand in their electric vehicles.
