Kai Carrier

Kai Carrier are reusable food pouches designed to reduce the amount of single use packaging sent to landfill, enabling busy families to feed fresh homemade food on the go.

The initiative works alongside organisations committed to reducing the amount of waste going to landfill including Auckland Council Zero Waste Zone and the Waste Wise Programme.  It also offers a fundraising package to all not-for-profit, early childhood education, schools and community groups. By supporting these organisations it is also providing a learning opportunity about waste and sustainable alternatives.

In three years Kai Carrier has sold and donated over 210,000 pouches. If each pouch can be used on average 20+ times this has potentially prevented over 4.2 million single serve packages, cling film or Glad bags ending up in landfill.

Since launching in 2013, Kai Carrier now has 50 stockists throughout New Zealand.  Helping the community has been at the core of what it does. The goal is to educate people about affordable sustainable alternatives to single use packaging. The team is committed to investing in the development of new reusable products, and ultimately helping our country reduce the amount of plastic waste being sent to landfill.

Kai Carrier is a finalist in the Community Impact category of the 2016 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards
