Mercury is inspiring and enabling Kiwis to experience and purchase e-bikes.

The company’s mission is to achieve energy freedom for New Zealand and New Zealanders. When the new Mercury brand was launched in July 2016 as ‘energy made wonderful’, electric bikes were seen as a perfect way to bring this idea to life. They offer a hands-on opportunity for people to engage with the new brand and a traditionally un-engaging, intangible product (electricity).

Mercury’s e-bike campaign has influenced New Zealanders to think in new ways about transport. The campaign brought e-bikes to over 3,200 members of the public by creating Ride Days across the North Island. E-bikes have been added to Mercury office locations. Staff can use them to get to meetings, for lunchtime rides, commutes to work or even for a weekend cruise with a friend.
In partnership with bike retailers, Mercury offers customers and employees a discount of up to $500 on new e-bikes. The company has set up discounted e-bike hire on the Waikato River Trails and sponsored events such as Bike the Bridge 2016 and 2017.

Mercury is a finalist in the Smarter Transport category of the 2017 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards.
