Olivia joined Watercare in 2016 after completing a Masters degree, attracted by the topic of water and public service.
There was no role in sustainability and she wanted a foot in the door, so she took whatever was available, which was a temporary job on data cleansing.
Through enthusiasm and commitment, Olivia soon got a permanent role as Resource Consents Planner. She continued to champion sustainability, and ended up spending 50% of her time on sustainability as well as delivering her other projects. She has made a major contribution to Watercare and has recently been promoted to a Sustainability Advisor.
Through determination and engaging other people, Olivia has shown how a young person can change an established organisation from the inside. She role models what it is to be a young, responsible, disruptive and innovative professional in the water and wastewater industry.
