Based on Auckland’s North Shore, the Kaipātiki Project is an environmental, not-for-profit, community organisation. It aims to inspire people to revive nature and live lightly on the planet. It promotes zero waste and local food initiatives.
Kaipātiki Project runs two native plant nursery sites with the help of more than 850 volunteers. Each year it grows more than 40,000 eco-sourced native plants destined for community restoration projects. In 2020 it ran 39 restoration days and removed more than 600 kilograms of pest plants.
The organisation embraces diversity and encourages sharing of ideas and skills. It ensures experiences are practical, impactful, easy, and fun. In all its work it treasures mātauranga Māori and practise concepts of good stewardship.
