The Repurposing Workshop, at its headquarters in Manukau, was opened in August 2020. The workshop upcycles MDF, textiles, soft furnishings and construction waste. Social Impactor
All Heart NZ was launched to create significant social impact in Aotearoa New Zealand. It raises money by redirecting and repurposing redundant and unwanted items from corporate businesses. This money is then used to help communities reduce poverty, increase access to education and provide wellbeing services. In its four years of operation, it has diverted more than three million kilograms of waste from landfill and raised $7.7 million in funds for 341 communities
All Heart NZ upcycles unwanted items at its Repurposing Workshop in Auckland and sells them through its stores or donates them to communities in need. There are four All Heart NZ stores with a kaupapa, or vision, to give hope and restore dignity. The stores create employment for many who are struggling, providing them with new skills so they can contribute to their whānau and the community. Its newest store was opened in Kaikohe where there is potential for significant social impact in a community with high needs.
Communicating for Impact
In the last year All Heart has worked hard to change the behaviour of the largest corporates in Aotearoa New Zealand around sustainability and product stewardship. The strategy has included targeted story-telling and promotion via e-newsletters, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram with highly effective use of short videos. The organisation issues impact reports to corporate clients communicating where their donated goods end up, how much tonnage they have saved from landfill and the overall social and environmental impacts of their goods’ redirection.
The reach is significant. All Heart has connected with 1,800 corporates and has a supporter database of more than 9,000 people.
