Breakfast of Champions – Auckland

Come and hear from two great organisations challenging food waste and getting food on tables this Christmas!

Kia ora Sustainable Business Network members!

We welcome you to join us for the last 2019 Auckland edition of the SBN Breakfast Of Champions!

For many people, the word ‘Christmas’ conjures up images of family, celebration and a feast – but in reality not everyone has equal access to a good meal. For our last breakfast of the year, come and hear from two organisations with different takes on using potential food waste for social good! Champions Gavin Findlay from KiwiHarvest and Michal Garvey from Foodprint will share the benefits of businesses tackling their food waste and how this positively impacts community.

KiwiHarvest focuses on diverting food waste from landfill, taking food unable to be sold and re-distributing it to Kiwis in need. Foodprint prevents food waste by creating last-minute affordable opportunities for people to buy food from cafés before it’s thrown out. Two neat solutions to the common food waste problem!

Breakfast together presents a great opportunity to build a community of practice, so that we can support each other’s journey going forward. Connect with other champions by picking their brains and learning from their experiences.

NOTE – Attendance is free but you must pay for your own breakfast. This time, we’ll be reflecting on food waste solutions over Crave café’s inspiring menu.

Crave café is owned by a collective; Its mission statement is to address social poverty in the Morningside neighbourhood – all of Crave’s profit goes towards uplifting the community. Incorporating seasonal ingredients, Crave crafts scrumptious, fresh food, and this breakfast will offer a delicious assortment of menu items to choose from!

We look forward to seeing you there!
