Green Cabs was one of the first taxi companies in New Zealand to introduce hybrid vehicles into the fleet. For nearly ten years it has shown commitment to minimising its environmental impact while delivering affordable, quality service.
From humble beginnings in Wellington, Green Cabs now operates in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin. New Zealand owned and operated, it was founded on the principles of sustainability, affordability and quality. A portion of every fare taken is donated to Trees for Survival and Trees for the Future.
To help communicate its sustainability efforts, all taxi drivers are educated on who the company is and what it does. The drivers pass this on to passengers, who are told upon invoicing exactly how many trees and carbon emissions they have saved by using Green Cabs. The reception wall is plastered with facts on how and where the company has helped people along the sustainability path. Green Cabs is active on social media and sends a monthly newsletter to account customers and drivers across the country.
Green Cabs was named in the top five businesses most known for sustainability efforts in the most recent Colmar Brunton Better Futures report.
Green Cabs is a finalist in the Cadence Communications Communicating Sustainability category of the 2016 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards
