The Sustainable Food Co. is a certified social enterprise and Aotearoa New Zealand’s first zero-waste event catering company with a 100% plant-based menu. Its mission is to help transform the food system and inspire New Zealanders to eat more sustainably.
Alongside event catering, the company offers private chef experiences, food sustainability workshops, community events and cooking demonstrations. From its launch in January 2020 to May 2021 it catered 168 events, fed a total of 10,500 people, ran 28 private chef experiences, delivered 365 frozen zero-waste meals and led eight workshops.
During that time it did not send a single piece of waste to landfill. Compared to a traditional event catering company, that equated to diverting 19,421 pieces of waste.
