The Sustainable Food Co. is a certified social enterprise and Aotearoa New Zealand’s first zero-waste event catering company with a 100% plant-based menu. Its mission is to help transform the food system and inspire New Zealanders to eat more sustainably.
The Sustainable Food Co. is disrupting the catering industry by providing low-cost, high-quality, sustainable food to its customers. From sourcing to serving, zero waste is sent to landfill. Alongside event catering, the company offers private chef experiences, food sustainability workshops, community events and live cooking demonstrations.
Since launching in January 2020, The Sustainable Food Co. has catered 353 events, fed a total of 16,951 people, delivered 31 Private Chef Experiences and led ten workshops. Demand for The Sustainable Food Co. continues to grow with a revenue increase trend of 300% each year.
Since July 2022, The Sustainable Food Co. has begun tracking the NZ specific carbon emissions for each menu item. This will provide customers with the carbon footprint for their order and the difference in carbon emissions saved compared to animal-based alternatives.
