Change Maker
2022 AWARD FINALIST
Sponsored by Tax Management New Zealand
Margarita arrived in Aotearoa New Zealand in 2012 to attend school. However, she very quickly fell in love with the country and its people.
In 2019 she graduated from AUT University with First Class Honours attaining a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Through her studies she found her true passion in utilising data to support change management.
In 2020, she joined Trevelyan’s Pack and Cool as a Project Engineer. In this role she worked across the entire business developing key relationships and learning about the wider horticulture industry. Margarita then joined the newly formed Technical Team as a Postharvest Technical Specialist focusing on fruit quality improvements in the post harvest sector. This appointment allowed her to build on her existing interest in interdisciplinary problem solving, complex system analysis and continuous improvement.
Margarita has been a valuable member of Trevelyan's sustainability committee since 2020 bringing a critical data-driven perspective to the table.
An avid advocate for climate change action, she uses her engineering skills and ingenuity to ensure ESG factors are addressed at all stages of business decision making. Highly versed in issues of global warming, carbon reporting and corporate accountability, Margarita brings sustainability into discussions at both a business and industry level.
