Going Circular
2022 AWARD FINALIST
Sponsored by Auckland Council
The current food system in Aotearoa New Zealand is linear with 45% of fresh fruit and vegetables not leaving the farm because it does not look “normal”.
Perfectly Imperfect is on a mission to rebuild a circular food system with zero waste and zero hunger. The “ugly” produce offers an affordable solution to nutritious produce for Kiwi families. The organisation also allows producers to find an innovative way to avoid waste and reduce financial struggles.
Perfectly Imperfect received a Zero Waste Award from the Auckland Council 2021, and was a semi-finalist for Community of the Year 2022.
Perfectly Imperfect collaborates with food innovation startups such as Citizen Rescue, Kinda and The Rescued Kitchen to create high value upcycled food products. The company aims to educate people to look beyond “perfect” looking produce and instead appreciate all food and how it has been produced.
