The Impact Initiative is a partnership between The Ākina Foundation, The Community Enterprise Network Trust and the Department of Internal Affairs. It ran from March 2018 to March 2021. Its aim was to boost the positive impact of social enterprises and other impact-led businesses.
The Initiative enabled collaboration on research into Aotearoa New Zealand’s unique history of impact-led business. It studied legal structures for impact, and how social enterprises contribute to the Government’s priorities.
Initial outcomes include certification of the impact of 106 enterprises through the Fwd platform. This is a procurement programme set up by The Ākina Foundation in partnership with NZ Post, connecting buyers to social enterprises.
